Strong Passwords

Creating Strong Passwords

This is a really simple guide on creating industry standard secure passwords. For more info see: https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/creating-strong-passwords-and-other-ways-protect-your-accounts

  • Do not use common passwords such as 123456, 12345, password, qwerty, iloveyou, etc.
  • Insure the password at least 12 characters
  • Use uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols
  • Avoid using personal identifiers or personal information about yourself that may be found on social media sites etc. (Don’t use pet names, birthdates, etc.)
  • Avoid using words in the dictionary
  • Do not use the same password across multiple accounts
